How can we help?
Need help with the VotePeer app for Nexa (iOS and Android) or the website votepeer-nexa.web.app? Email jqrgen@nexa.org. Tell us which device and app version you use and what happened, and we will get back to you.
What is VotePeer?
VotePeer lets groups, communities and organisations hold elections on the Nexa blockchain, so anyone can check the result and no one can change a vote after it is cast. Elections are created at votepeer-nexa.web.app. The app keeps your Nexa identity on your phone and signs you in to the website. It is an early version: taking part in elections from inside the app is still being built.
How do I sign in?
There is no username or password. The app creates a Nexa identity on your phone the first time you open it.
- Open votepeer-nexa.web.app on your computer and press Log in. A QR code appears.
- In the app, open the menu and choose Login, then press the Login button.
- Scan the QR code on the website with your phone's camera. The website signs you in with the identity on your phone.
How do I back up my identity?
Your identity is a Nexa key that exists only on your phone. If you lose the phone or delete the app without a backup, the identity cannot be recovered by us or anyone else.
- In the app, open the menu and choose Mnemonic. Write the 12 recovery words down on paper, in order, and keep them somewhere safe.
- Never share the words or type them into a website. Anyone who has them controls your identity. We will never ask for them.
- To restore an identity on a new phone, choose Mnemonic, then the option to recover, and enter the 12 words.
Are votes private?
No. Votes are Nexa transactions, and anything written to the blockchain is public and permanent. Anyone can see the votes recorded for an election. Read the privacy policy for the details of what is public and what we store.
Does VotePeer cost anything?
The app and website are free, with no ads, analytics or tracking.
